Water Dialogues – A Water-Literate Society
WEBINAR PRESENTATION & RECORDING
This SIWI webinar series invites the audience to get acquainted with the laureates’ and SJWP winners’ respective work and to contribute to the discussion on how the world needs to respond to current challenges, and future needs. The series is divided into five different sessions, where each session will centre around a dialogue between one Stockholm Water Prize Laureate and one Stockholm Junior Water Prize winner.
This Water Dialogue will look into the topic of a water-literate society. SIWI colleague Panchali Saikia with an expertise in water resilience and urban issues in water governance, will moderate the webinar.
Eszter Kun, the 2019 Stockholm Junior Water Prize nominee from Hungary, will talk about her project of educational aquaponics systems, which teaches teenagers about biology, chemistry, physics, and agricultural studies.
Sunita Narain, the Stockholm Water Prize Laureate from 2005, will join the dialogue on how to educate societies about water. The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is a public interest research and advocacy organisation based in New Delhi. It was awarded the Stockholm Water Prize in 2005, as it acknowledges the growing crisis of water management in many regions of the South and the need for new approaches that provide local food and water security to communities. The movement has the potential to change the water futures of the world. Besides engaging in rainwater harvesting and other water issues, CSE has been involved in Climate change issues, housing and urban air quality.
